Backstory
She was raised in the village, an only child, with no financial worries and many friends. She excelled at everything she did and always had people around her eager to take advantage of it. Vuck didn’t mind; it meant more people to listen to her theories and fantasies.
She was the queen of stories, a professional storyteller; her peers listened to her, partly to gain favors, but the village children listened to her as if she were a heroine. She loved that. Filling those children’s heads with tales of her battles with «meigas,» «mouras,» «lumias,» and «lavandeiras» energized her, separating her from the dull life that awaited her at home every day.
Eventually, she grew tired of only children believing her (despite knowing they were lies) and decided to become what she boasted about: a heroine. She gathered all her books on Galician legends and set out to find a witch so that everyone would believe her.
During the plot
Objectives
The goal changes throughout the plot: it shifts from returning home to helping her new friends become free.
Main conflict
Stop hiding. Vuck’s facade is a shield against feelings she doesn’t want to confront because she doesn’t recognize them as her own. She fears her true self because it’s not who she wants to be.
Secondary conflicts
- Broken ideals face a reality that is not what they would like to know.
- Breaking away from their bad behaviors.
- Leaving selfishness behind.
Motivation
Striving to be the best at everything. Over time, she will seek to be a better person.
Character evolution
At first, we see a selfish character with no other aspiration than to be praised. But over time, they will see the situation in Sincor differently: not as an opportunity, but as a nightmare. This will lead them to seek not only a way out for themselves, but also to rescue all those creatures who have cared for them without expecting anything in return.
Vuck will come to accept herself and grow stronger.
